Cobble Hill Kitchen remodel with custom sliding doors, oversized lighting and grey floors

This Cobble Hill, Brooklyn townhouse kitchen renovation focused on creating a space that was both warm and modern.

We took inspiration from furniture design to create custom, painted wood cabinetry. A soffit hides a hood over a built-in oven and electric cooktop.

We selected sleek appliances that were seamlessly integrated into the millwork, and a hood that was built-into a soffit, for a softer look.

Encaustic grey tile adds a rustic touch, with a juxtaposed modern lighting fixtures that is complemented by soapstone countertops with a routed-in rack for drying dishes. The backsplash is created from a simple glossy white paint that The chalkiness at the floor is picked up by a matte paint on the remainder of the walls.

Sleek, Italian lighting fixtures anchor the space and create a nice juxtaposition with the historic, mirrored sliding doors and brass hardware.

The space sought to balance modernism and history in a way that is conducive for modern, comfortable living.
